A pile foundation is a foundation that supports the structure by driving deep piles, mainly when constructing structures on soft ground, where the ground can not support the structure with a shallow foundation.<\/span>
Pile foundations tend to be used for small to medium sized systems. The main types of piles used are steel pipe piles and spiral piles, but there are also derived types that use single pipes, and they come in a wide variety of forms.<\/span>
The biggest advantage of using pile foundations is that the material cost is lower than that of concrete foundations, and pile foundations require more know-how than concrete foundations.<\/span>
