事業継続計画とは、災害時を想定した事業継続プランのこと。大きな事故や災害などが発生し事業の継続が危ぶまれるような事態になった際には、いかに早く事業を再開できる体制を整えるかが重要になる。そこで、早期に事業再開するための対策をあらかじめ構築しておくことをBCP（事業継続計画）という。
たとえば、企業情報が漏洩しないためのセキュリティシステムや、消失しないためのバックアップシステムの整備、社員の安否確認方法、代替オフィスや工場の用意などが挙げられる。タイムスケジュールまで決めて非常時訓練を行っている企業や、太陽光発電を非常用電源として活用できるシステムを開発する企業などが増えている。

BCP is a business continuity plan in the event of a disaster. When a major accident or disaster occurs and the continuation of business is in doubt, it is important to establish a system that can resume business as quickly as possible. Therefore, building measures in advance to restart business as soon as possible is called BCP (Business Continuity Plan).
Examples include establishing security systems to prevent company information from leaking, backup systems to prevent data loss, methods for confirming the safety of employees, and preparing alternative offices and factories. An increasing number of companies are now setting time schedules for emergency training, and companies are developing systems that can utilize solar power as an emergency power source.
