アーク故障回路遮断器(AFCI)またはアーク故障検出器(AFDD)は、回路のアーク故障特徴信号を検出すると、短絡や火災の発生前に電気回路を遮断する保護装置である。太陽光システムの中で、接触不良、絶縁材料の老化、配線断裂、ケーブルの湿気、腐食などの原因で直流アークを引く。AFCIは無害アーク(スイッチ、プラグ、ブラシモーターが正常に動作するときに偶然発生するアーク)と潜在的に危険なアークを選択的に区別できる。

An arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) or arc-fault detection device (AFDD)[1] is a circuit breaker that breaks the circuit when it detects the arc fault characteristic signal in the circuit. It actively cuts off the power supply circuit before a short circuit or fire occurs. In photovoltaic systems, DC arc may be caused by poor contact, aging insulation materials, wiring breaks, cable moisture, corrosion and other reasons. An AFCI selectively distinguishes between a harmless arc (incidental to normal operation of switches, plugs, and brushed motors), and a potentially dangerous arc (that can occur, for example, in a lamp cord which has a broken conductor).
